Character Name: Wilykit
Series: Thundercats (1980s version)
Gender: Female
Age: 12

Species: Thundarian, Wildcat clan

Appearance: Wilykit is a slender preteen girl with amber eyes and red hair that sweeps up to a point above her head with a black streak running down the middle of it. As a Thunderan, Kit possesses feline traits, including slitted pupils, sharp, claw-like nails, and, though her hair usually covers them, pointed ears.

She wears a short dress and open-toed boots, designed to allow greater freedom of movement for both play and combat. Although the majority of her outfit is light blue, her left (and only) sleeve, left boot, and the right side of her skirt are pink. She also wears a thin, simple band on her upper right arm and a thin brown belt with slots that hold the special trick capsules she uses during combat. Her belt also has a small strap on the side, which keeps a lariat within easy reach for when she has to fight head-on. (Or rather, that’s where Kit’s capsules and lariat would be, had they not mysteriously vanished when she woke up on the SOL.) There’s a darker blue circle on her chest that marks where her Thundercat emblem is usually placed, but it’s missing now.

Personality: Justice, truth, honor, and loyalty. These tenets make up the core of the Code of Thundera, which Wilykit and her fellow Thundercats are sworn to uphold and defend. Wilykit does her best to follow this duty as well as she can, but she’s still a playful, curious, and headstrong 12-year-old girl, and that means if there’s trouble to be found, chances are good that she’ll not only find it, but somehow make it even worse. To her credit, she does try to fix her mistakes, but more often than not, she’ll end up in over her head and need help.

Despite her mischievous streak, Wilykit is unquestionably one of the good guys, and she won’t hesitate to rush to another’s aid if she is asked for help. Similarly, she does know the meaning of the word “restraint,” and will not intentionally inflict physical or emotional harm on the target of any of her pranks. (Whether or not she’ll unintentionally hurt someone may be another matter. Just because she knows the meaning of “restraint” doesn’t mean she always knows when to apply it.)

Regarding those from her home, she has a very close relationship with her twin brother, Wilykat, even if the two of them do sometimes bicker. As the older twin, Kit tends to worry about her brother’s wellbeing, more often than not disguising it as simple teasing or bossiness. Since their parents, both Thundercats themselves, died when the twins were still cubs, the others took charge of raising them, and the twins regard them as family. They still haven’t learned the details of their parents’ deaths, and any questions regarding the matter tend to be deflected with a “we’ll tell you when you’re older.”

This attitude leads to one of Wilykit’s biggest character flaws: her impatience with being treated like a kid. The other Thundercats try to allow Kit and her brother to have some semblance of a normal childhood, given their circumstances, but being the only kittens left on the team after Lion-O’s sudden aging (and subsequent new responsibilities) isn’t always easy to deal with. Thus, Wilykit is frequently liable to do something reckless in an attempt to prove that she can be trusted as a full-fledged member of the team.

History: Wilykit and her twin brother Wilykat were born on Thundera, a planet mainly populated by a race of catlike beings. It was a pretty nice place to live, so long as you didn’t mind the occasional monstrous beast trying to eat you or an attack from the villainous Mutants of Plundarr every so often. The twins’ parents were killed in battle against these foes, so they were raised by their allies, the Thundercats—members of the nobility who defended their people against all evil, led by their ruler, the Lord of the Thundercats. Together, along with Lion-O, the young heir to the throne, Wilykit and Kat studied and trained under the guidance of the elder Thundercats, preparing for the day when they, too, would fight evil.
Tragically, Thundera’s core grew unstable, and its people were forced to flee their dying world before it exploded. Many lost their lives during the cataclysm, and the population was further devastated by an attack from the Mutants. They destroyed several refugee ships before invading the Thundercats’ vessel in search of the Eye of Thundera, a mystic stone of great power that was embedded in the hilt of the Sword of Omens.
Although the Thundercats were able to successfully fend the Mutants off, their ship’s navigational systems and engines had been damaged during the battle. As such, they were forced to abandon their intended destination in favor of a small planet called Third Earth in a distant star system. In addition, they would have to spend the trip in suspension capsules—special pods that would place them in cryogenic stasis so they could survive the long journey ahead. Jaga, as acting Lord of the Thundercats and the eldest of them all, sacrificed himself so he could spend the remainder of his life piloting the ship safely toward the Thundercats’ new home.
When the Thundercats finally arrived on Third Earth, they awoke to discover that even though Wilykit and her brother were still preteen kittens, Lion-O had aged substantially during the trip, and was now a grown man. That wasn’t the only surprise—the Mutants had followed them all the way to Third Earth in pursuit of the Eye of Thundera. Nevertheless, they were determined to survive, and so began the process of building their home base and adjusting to life on this new planet.
Although the Thundercats quickly made several new friends among the inhabitants of Third Earth, they also made some enemies. Chief among these was Mumm-Ra the Ever-Living, an undead sorcerer from Third Earth’s ancient past. Wanting to both claim the Eye of Thundera’s power for his own and to destroy the force of good the Thundercats represented, Mumm-Ra took command of the Mutants and battled the Thundercats time and time again.
Time passed, and with Lion-O’s coming of age rapidly approaching, the Thundercats had to prepare for the Anointment Trials, a rite of passage that would pit Lion-O against each of his friends and his deadliest foe to prove that he was worthy of officially assuming the mantle of Lord of the Thundercats. Wilykit and Wilykat had been scouting out the cave system where their test, the Trial of Cunning, would take place, when Kit suddenly blacked out for no apparent reason. When she came to, she had a sinking feeling she wasn’t on Third Earth anymore…
Being stuck on the Satellite of Love hadn’t been all that bad, to be honest. In fact, it was kind of fun. But just as Wilykit was starting to think nothing the ship could throw at her would surprise her any more, it came up with the biggest shock yet—it sent her home. Wilykit suddenly found herself right back at the entrance to the caves she and her brother had been inspecting when she had been taken. It was as if she hadn’t missed a moment back on Third Earth.
Wilykit didn’t know how to tell the others what had happened to her (Yeah, like saying “No, really! I was kidnapped by these goofy mad scientists and trapped on a satellite where they forced us to read bad fiction each week!” would go over well), so she didn’t. Besides, there were still the Anointment Trials to prepare for, which kept her nicely busy for the next few weeks.
When the time came, Wilykit and Wilykat did their best to beat Lion-O in a race through the caves in the Trial of Cunning, despite interference from the Mutants that nearly killed them all. But in the end, Lion-O outsmarted the twins and emerged triumphant, claiming their Thundercat emblems. As Lion-O set off toward the chosen battlefield against Tygra for the Trial of Mind Power, the twins started heading back to Cats’ Lair to rest up and watch the remaining Trials with the other Thundercats.
At that moment, Wilykit was feeling exhausted enough to forget all about her misadventure in space. Naturally, this was the point fate decided it wasn’t done messing with her just yet. One moment, Kit was walking into Cats’ Lair; the next, she found herself right back aboard the Satellite of Love.

Extra notes: Wilykit, like all Thundarians, is vulnerable to a mineral that her people call thundrainium, though it can be known by other names. It can be used to forge weapons and tools, if you don’t mind the fact that it’s unstable and dangerous to work with, but the stuff is basically Kryptonite to her. Since everything runs on Rule of Funny here, I don’t know if that means it’ll never show up, if people can use a chunk of it as a handy “make the pesky catgirl shut up now” device, or what, but I figure it’s worth mentioning.
